In the Spotlight Page Basics

Quickly add new “In the Spotlight” items in the CMS: fill fields, upload SVG logo, publish — just like blog posts.

The In the Spotlight section of your site works just like your blog – it’s powered by CMS items that you can easily update on the backend. Each spotlight entry highlights an interview, podcast, article, or event featuring your team.

How It Works

Every item you see on the page pulls directly from the CMS. That means when you add a new spotlight item, the site automatically updates with the new entry. Each spotlight card is fully customizable: title, type, company name, publish date, link, logo, and background color.

Step 1: Review Spotlight Types

Before adding a new item, check the Spotlight Item Types collection. The current types are:

  • Interview
  • Podcast
  • Event
  • Article

If you need a new type, just click New Spotlight Item Type, give it a name, and save. Don’t worry about the slug – the system does this automatically but we don't use it.

Step 2: Add a Spotlight Item

Go to the Spotlight Items collection and click New Spotlight Item. Fill out each field as follows:

  • Title: This is what displays on the front end.
  • Type: Choose from the spotlight item types (interview, podcast, etc.).
  • Company Name: The name of the publication, podcast, or event host.
  • Link: The URL to the article, interview, or podcast. (Opens in a new tab by default.)
  • Source: Where the item was published.
  • Publish Date: When the item originally went live.
  • Logo: Must be an SVG file. Don’t worry about the color – the site will automatically convert it to white.
  • Tile Background Color: Optional – lets you add a custom background color behind the logo.

Step 3: Publish

Once everything is filled out, click Publish Now. Your new spotlight item will appear on the live site.

Notes

  • The “slug” field doesn’t matter — it’s auto-generated and not visible to visitors.
  • Since the system is flexible, we can always add new features (like filters or categories) later if needed.

That’s it! Updating the In the Spotlight page is as simple as adding a blog post.
